Children Playing in the Street
I saw the notice on the website and got the flyer that was passed out last night about the children playing in the streets. I am very appreciative of these efforts, but know this will not prevent children from playing in the street and either getting hit by a vehicle or damaging someone's property. I am hesitant to contact the Dover PD about kids playing in the streets because I feel that this is the least of their worries and they will only respond if a kid is hit or property is damaged (which in my opinion, is a little too late). In the meantime, those of us who have to deal with these kids are powerless to do anything. Last night my brand new car was hit with a football and the kids could have cared less when I went outside to ask them to move the game around back. They kept on playing and it is obvious the father does not care because he was home and was letting his kids (several of the kids belong to the same house) play in the street; after dark no less. I saw numerous cars slowing down or stopping to avoid hitting these kids. Is there anything we can do besides call Dover PD? Does anyone have any thought on this topic??
